Racism is inherent to human nature. It has manifested itself in various forms. In the olden days, the victorious army would take the vanquished as slaves, in the middle ages people were discriminated against because of color, caste and creed , in the early 17th century onwards, it took the shape of white supremacy over the black culminating into so called Aryan supremacy. A world war was fought over it and the global fallout was tremendous.

When a seed is planted, it grows and becomes a tree only when it gets the materials essential for its growth. Although we have proceeded a long way towards development and equality some beliefs like racism and discrimination still exist in parts of our society because of our ignorance. Racism is the gravest threat to man - the maximum of hatred for a minimum of reason. Racism is the belief that characteristics and abilities can be attributed to people only on the basis of their race. Racism and discrimination have been used as powerful weapons to split the society and power of the people even during economic downturns. It is an issue which can be combated only when all the people of the world feel strongly against it. It is a Global issue so it should be dealt globally. It is impossible to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that, the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality.

As we advance in civilization, democracy is prevailing as the best mode of social form which professes equality of all races. The 21st century has broken all boundaries and reduced the world into a global village. Unfortunately still some segments harbour hatred and mistrust against their brother. Yugoslavia got disintegrated, Hutus and tutsis fight each other----list is endless. The new generation growing up in a borderless world will ultimately end this ugly trend of human behaviour. So I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional harmony will have the ultimate word and bring an end to racism.
